Paul Bartels has been in music his whole life and developed an interest for piano tuning while still teaching in the public schools in Columbus, Ohio. A piano tuner friend helped encourage him to pursue tuning as a profession. Paul has taken the course work and tests through the American School for Piano Tuning in California and received their certificate as a piano tuner. In 2008, he retired from teaching and founded Isle O' Eden Piano Tuning in Bar Harbor. He has gained the confidence of and shown his reliability to his customers both in Bar Harbor and around the region.

Pianos in Maine should be tuned once a year minimum and in many cases twice a year as recommended by piano manufacturers. Pianos go out of tune fairly quickly due to use or temperature fluctuations or both. If your piano is near a wood burner, , or heating duct, that will cause it to go out of tune quicker and cause problems in the pin block. If you have high humidity in the the summer and it is not regulated with a dehumidifier, that will also cause problems in the pin block. Staying on a yearly tuning is my recommendation, but I can assess that during my first tuning for you.
